GIRTRASH: All Night Long

Currently accepting applications for POWER UP mentorship program. Work with writers, directors, producers, directors of photography, editors and others, on POWER UP's second feature film. This December POWER UP is producing GIRLTRASH: All Night Long.The film is written by Angela Robinson (The L Word, Hung, Girltrash, D.E.B.S.), will be directed by Alex Kondracke (The L Word) produced by Lisa Thrasher (Itty Bitty Titty Committee, Starcrossed) and Angela Robinson and executive produced by POWER UP founder Stacy Codikow (Itty Bitty Titty Committee, Under the Hula Moon, D.E.B.S.). This is a tremendous opportunity to get hands on experience, participate in the creation of a motion picture, establish relationships and have fun. Click here for application and information.

POWER UP grantee Colette Burson (director of LITTLE BLACK BOOT starring Jane Lynch and Dania Ramirez) is now at the helm of HUNG, a series she co-created, wrote and successfully pitched with partner Dmitry Lipkin to HBO.

Daniela Sea on making ITTY BITTY

"I really loved the whole vibe of it, because I really go through life like that. I think in a really community based way. Whether it be with lesbians or queer people in general, radicals, leftys. I like thinking that way, so creating work with people who are on that wave length and that’s what we’re doing too. The piece itself was all about feminist activist so it was pretty fitting. It was really fun.”

From the Executive Director

POWER UP must depend solely on sponsors and individual donations to fund its Educational programs, workshops, films and services. These programs & services affect change, grow humanity and facilitate the acceptance of our community. POWER UP believes that by telling stories, we share our unique experiences, which opens the doors to awareness and breaks down the walls of discrimination. This effectuates the acceptance of Women & GLBTQ persons and creates unity and equality for all.

POWER UP has been at the helm of the production of 14 films and has been involved in dozens more. This organization has given away more than 2 million dollars in cash and in-kind gifts to storytellers to create their vision. POWER UP conducts seminars, classes and mentorships to educate facilitate and guide storytellers by making their films a reality.

In these tough times, our community must depend on the passion, support and involvement of individuals. In other words, POWER UP cannot exist without YOU.

So I reach out to all of you who: (1) make a decent living and should "Pay it Forward;" (2) need a tax donation before the end of 2009; (3) are in the GLBTQ Community; (4) have benefitted personally and/or professionally from POWER UP; and (5) those of you who want to benefit personally and/or professionally from POWER UP; and (6) have a heart and want the World to be a better place for ALL … and I ask you to help POWER UP continue and PLEASE DONATE NOW.
